Happy New Year!
Well this is it, the time has come. I'll be taking on the Brathay 10in10 THIS YEAR!
Not sure how I feel about this, although there is a degree of eerie calmness in my mood at present.
Fitness is on an upward track after a few months' solid and steady mileage with five marathons along the way, including a trip Merseyside for a windy run along the seafront at the Liverbird New Year's Eve Marathon. I'm not back to my best – could do with losing at least half a stone really – but heading the right way!
Fundraising for the Brathay Trust is also going quite well especially due to some excellent support from my club Trawden AC. I'm over 40% there with around £1200 on my JustGiving page, thankfully beyond the thousand pound limit just in time for the 10in10 training weekend on 13th January.
This is a chance to meet my fellow lunatics, the Brathay support crew, get the complete low-down on our 10+ days away in May, and of course run the Windermere Marathon route as a training run. Plus anyone who has managed to raise £1000 can claim their official Asics sponsored Brathay 10in10 kit – another great way to spread the word about the charity in the months before the big event.
I'm certainly looking forward to the training weekend and may even bring along some awesome Ark Caterers lovely Lancashire pies for everyone to celebrate!
